AX2R RallyCross USA
Welcome to the latest AX2R series, one that is intended to be fast, loose and fun… just like that girl we almost bagged one night round town! Then she got fat and boring but that’s another story
The series will start Friday November 19th, on our usual night slot at 22:30 🇬🇧 17:30 🇺🇸 Eastern, running for 5 consecutive weeks until December 17th
The track list will be:
- Road America West Route 2.17 miles
- Sonoma Grand Prix Circuit 2.22 miles
- Sebring Club Circuit 1.70 miles
- Lime Rock Full Circuit 1.50 miles
- Test Track Airfield Full Circuit 1.74 miles
The races will be between 3-5 laps depending on the track with 2 races in each type of car, meaning 8 races per night. Race 1 for each car at the first round will be random grid order, with race 2 being a reverse grid of the finishing order. From round 2 onwards, Race 1 grid order will be decided by championship order with the leader on pole. Any newcomers to the grid or DNF’s will start at the back.
The races will be from a standing start using the countdown, so that means no waiting for a set time. If there’s any lobby issues we will do a restart a maximum of 2 times. There will be NO safety car under this format as damage will be set to fuel and tyres only.
Each track will have a “joker lap” which is a section of track which must be used once in the race. It’s either an extension or shortcut of the track, this cannot be used on Lap 1 of any race but must be used any time after that. If you do this on the first lap then it must be done again later in the race.
Track limits will be ‘loose’ for this series, to help replicate a Rallycross event which switches seamlessly from tarmac to dirt. Friction assist will be switched ON for this series meaning the track limits will be up to 2 car widths off track except on the joker lap which must be kept within the limits shown (see weekly video for this).
The series will consist of 4 different cars, each one requiring different skills and styles to master. The cars will either be stock or homologated with locked stock-tunes (I hear the groans already from some, but give it a chance and keep reading). This is to help keep the racing close and take some of the seriousness out of it, it’s all for fun
The cars used will be:
- 2012 Bowler EXR S - Stock B567
- 2016 RJ Anderson Polaris RZR Truck - Homologated B549 10% power loss
- 2016 Ford Focus RS RX Gymkhana 9 - Homologated R819
- 2015 Polaris RZR XP 1000 EPS - Stock E262
There will be no restriction groups for this series (other than the 10% power loss for all when using the RJ Anderson truck) so all cars will be equal throughout the series.
Points will be awarded to all finishers with no bonus points awarded
Though unlike actual rally cross events, we won’t run heat races and we won’t have maximum grid sizes, we aren’t expecting a big sign up and will be happy with a party full for this type of event, everyone is welcome though providing it’s just one lobby
If there’s a car you don’t like, then you do not need to race them, instead you can skip those and rejoin for the next one or leave early as each championship will be independent to all the others, meaning there are 5 title up for grabs in this series - 1 for each car and a combined champion for all the series.
We will also include a dropped round, meaning the worst race for each series will be omitted from your total, anyone who needs to miss a week won’t lose out in the championship as a result.
