Daytona 2.4 qualifying and race day
π΄ Roar Before the 2.4
On Friday 17th January at 2300 π¬π§ 1800 πΊπΈ we will host a 45minute qualifying session, which will be two 20 minute sessions with a break in between to allow tuning adjustments to be made, invites will be sent out to all registered drivers prior to the event. This will be the main qualifying session but there will also be a brief qualifying session before the event on the day of the race. All drivers are free to complete times in all sessions. All cars will be ghosted (ensure you do NOT have tinted windows). Clean laps as always will be considered above dirty laps
π΅ QUALIFYING
Before the race there will be a 5 lap qualifying session (1 warm up, 5 flying laps) with a 3 minute end timer, cars will be ghosted and damage will be on. Clean laps will beat dirty laps. All restriction buckets will be in place for the cars which require them for the race:
- BMW M6 GTLM 5%
- Lamborghini 5%
- BMW M8 GTE 10%
π΄ THE RACE
This will be set in laps to an equivalent of 2.4 Hours (144 minutes) which I work out to be circa 80 laps inclusive of pit stop times based on an average lap time. This is to incorporate 4 quick stops to enable cars with smaller fuel tanks (Audi, Ferrari, Ford) to remain competitive. There is no set fuel windows so you can pit any time you like - any pit stops under the safety car will not be counted and an extra stop must be taken in race conditions.
πΊπΈ Start of the race - There will be a rolling start for this event, with the start line being after the first right hand hairpin (see pictures below) this is to help prevent mass casualties off the line as automated rolling starts don't seem to be an option on multiplayer right now. Cars are to follow in order at a steady speed of 60mph (100km/h), the leader then accelerates as he levels the line - the restart area will be the same place after turn 3 as shown below should there be a safety car.
π Safety Car - I hope this isn't a necessity in the race, it will only be used if there is a blockage on the track or a pile up involving 3 cars or more. Should this be called the lead car will proceed at 60mph (100km/h) until the field catches up. If there any incidents requiring a safety car then please ensure to tell your party host asap who will then determine whether a safety car is required. Once the safety car is deemed to have returned to the pit, the leader will determine the pace and can accelerate at any point after exiting Turn 2 (right/left kink after Turn 1). No overtaking before the restart line (after Turn 3)
π§ The parties - if there is more than 16 racers in the lobby then two parties are required. I will host one (NothelleN340) whilst the second will be hosted by SVR Twitch, if my party is full then ensure you add him up and join his party asap. All drivers must be in one of the two parties to ensure messages can be passed on to you. SVR Twitch sits next to myself so any messages can be passed near instantly. Invites will be sent out by myself to all sign ups but I will not be chasing around, please ensure you join the party or message for an invite. There has been enough notice of this race
π The race - with 4 quick stops for all cars unless a pit stop under the safety car is required. The race will end when the leader crosses the line completing all his laps, there will be a 2 minute end timer to ensure only one lap is done by those behind and everyone will continue to race to the line until their race is completed. The race will be held at night πβ¨ purely on the basis it looks better.
π₯ Full damage will be turned ON, ABS and TCS (a first for an XMIC endurance race) allowed, STM and Friction Assist will all be switched OFF.
β οΈ Track limits
Daytona on the whole is a good track for track limits, with only a couple of places were limits can be cut. I insist everyone keeps within the limits and does not cut the bus stop chicane on the back straight - see pics below for what is and what is not acceptable. Acceptable limits do not match Forza limits as they are too extreme compared to what is actually run during the real Daytona 24
Anyone repeatedly caught cutting the chicane will be asked to drop back a place as an unfair advantage is being gained by cutting the chicane.
Please be online for 2215 π¬π§ (1715 πΊπΈ EST) and in the lobby/party ready to go at 10:30pm. Qualifying will be starting on time, I can only apologise if you miss it, but the race is long enough so I'd like to make a start asap
